Water Shortage Warning Order

On May 9, 2017, the Governing Board of the St. Johns River Water Management District (District) issued a Water Shortage Warning Order, which applies to all sources of water within the District, except reclaimed water, in all counties in the District including Volusia County and Orange City. Future rainfall predictions for Orange City and Volusia County are that we should expect below-average rainfall. Orange City requests that everybody voluntary reduce water use and increase water conservation.

While conditions have not reached a point where there is insufficient water to meet anticipated demand and protect water resources like Blue Spring, now is the time to increase our awareness in anticipation of potential prolonged drought. Please also note that Orange City issued a “Burn Ban” that went into effect on May 10.
